The traditional title, so I decided to keep it for the first post. Or at last the first post on this site.
Not long ago, I was employed, at a job I loved. Then COVID-19 hit, and things turned upside down. After twelve (count ’em, twelve!) years with the same company, my position was eliminated.
For the past twenty-five-plus years, I’ve been doing IT work, everything from field support, to help-desk, to QA work. Along the line, I’ve dabbled in pretty much all areas of software support and development. This website actually started as me doing a favor for a friend starting a business. When he sold out, I kept the hosting, and redid the domain name, for use as my personal web space.
For the past decade or so, I’ve played around with different looks and feels, trying different technologies. I’ve set up sites using WordPress (like this one), as well as from scratch. In general, this webspace has been my scratch pad I could access from anywhere.
With the change of employment, I’d like to get more into web development. Since I don’t have employment as a web developer, aside from a few freelance jobs over the years, that’s going to be tough. At the very least, I’m going to need some examples of my work.
WordPress is used for a very large chunk of the web, so it behooves me to demonstrate that I know how to use it, and tweak it. This blog is my “WordPress Sample”, so to speak. I’ve tweaked the color scheme, and added the random background images just to give it some life.
As a blogger… that remains to be seen. Hopefully I can put that functionality to good use!
Just testing the comments!
